Introducing CREAT+VE
Umbrella Cymru is excited to announce a new in-person social group.
The group is designed to empower participants through arts, crafts, and mixed media activities while enhancing a sense of belonging and increasing social confidence.

What is the group about?
The group will be activity based to create a safe and comfortable environment. Dive into fun and engaging arts and crafts sessions. From painting and collage to mixed media projects, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. We’ll even have group sessions with specialists and creatives to give you the best experience.
Whether you’re a seasoned artist or someone who’s never picked up a paintbrush, this group is all about exploring your creativity in a relaxed, judgment-free environment.
Why would I join?
Creativity has been shown to reduce stress, improve mental health, and boost overall wellbeing. These sessions are designed to help you feel good, inside and out. They will offer the opportunity to meet others, share your experiences, and build meaningful connections in a safe and inclusive space.

What have others said?
“For many people questioning or exploring their gender, the hardest part isn’t just figuring out who they are—it’s finding a place where they can do so safely, without judgment. In a world that often feels unwelcoming or even hostile toward trans and non-binary people, spaces that allow for open, honest self-discovery are essential. They give people the chance to express themselves freely, to find support, and to realize they’re not alone. That’s exactly what this group was for me…
…This group was the first space where I could be myself in public, in front of real-life people. And that was terrifying. I wasn’t just afraid of who I was—I was afraid that even within the LGBTQ+ community, I wouldn’t be accepted. But from the moment I walked in, I felt welcome. Like I had finally found a place where I belonged….
…Over time, the group became more than just a meeting space—it became a community. I met friends who have been in my life for years…who have supported me through my lowest moments. And the group itself provided that support every time we met. It was a place to be creative, to explore my identity without pressure or expectation…
… This group didn’t just help me figure out who I was—it saved my life. Before I found this space, my mental health was in free fall… Because of this group, I not only survived, I thrived. I built up the confidence to achieve things I never thought possible…
…This is why spaces like this need to exist—not just in one place, but everywhere. They give people the chance to discover themselves, to build community, and to feel seen. Without this group, I don’t know how long it would have taken me to accept myself, or if I would have ever found the support I needed. That’s why I believe more spaces like this need to be created—so that no one has to go through their journey alone.”
